Feast of St. Irenaeus, Bishop and Martyr. Greek cleric who guiding and expanding Christian communities in what is now the south of France. Bishop of Lugdunum (Lyon), his best-known work is On the Detection and Overthrow of the So-Called Gnosis, ending the spread of Gnosticism. Died in 202.

Feast of St. Pelagius of Cordova, martyred by the Caliph of Córdoba. Remembered in the poem by Rhoswitha of Gandersheim – Passion of Pelagius. Patron of abandoned people, torture victims and Castro Urdiales, Spain.

Feast of St. Prosper of Aquitaine, writer, disciple of St. Augustine of Hippo, aggressive propagandist for the Augustinian doctrine of grace who chose the writings that became the decrees of the 529 Council of Orange.

Feast of St. Mother Maria Guadalupe Garcia Zavala (Mother Lupita), co-founder, the Congregation of the Handmaids of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque and the Poor.  Canonized on May 12 2013 by Pope Francis. Patron of Nurses and the Handmaids of Santa Margherita Maria and the Poor.

Feast of St. Thomas More, English lawyer, author, statesman, councilor to Henry VIII and Lord High Chancellor of England. He was convicted of treason and beheaded. Patron of adopted children, civil servants, difficult marriages, large families, lawyers, politicians & statesmen.
