Feast of St. Benedict the Moor, Italian Franciscan lay brother.  Although illiterate, he became the Master of novices and later Guardian of the community in his Franciscan Friary. Patron of African missions, African Americans, black missions, Palermo and San Fratello, Sicily.

Feast of St. Urban of Langres, Bishop.  Brother of St. Leodegaria.  Patron of Langres, Dijon, vine-growers, vine-dressers, gardeners, vintners and coopers, invoked against blight, frost, storms, alcoholism and faintness.

Feast of St. Hugh of Châteauneuf, Benedictine bishop and founder. Bishop of Grenoble, partisan of the Gregorian reform. Gave St. Bruno the land for the Grande Chartreuse monastery, starting the Carthusians.      Patron of Grenoble, France and against headaches.

Feast of St. Balbina of Rome, virgin martyr baptized by Pope St. Alexander, daughter of Quirinus, a Tribune in the Roman Army. Patron of Struma, Scrofulous Diseases, Goiter and Throat Diseases.

Feast of St. Rupert of Salzburg, Bishop, founder and missionary. Bishop of Worms, first Bishop of Salzburg and abbot of St. Peter’s in Salzburg.  Took over a deserted town, renamed it Salzburg. Apostle of Bavaria. Patron of Austria, Salzburg and salt miners.

Feast of Saint Lucy Filippini, founder, Religious Teachers Filippini. founded schools for young women, especially the poor. Died 1732.

Feast of St. Aldemar the Wise, Benedictine Abbot, founder and miracle worker, born in Capua, became a monk at Monte Cassino, Abbot of San Lorenzo, founded monastery of Santa Eufemia and other monasteries in Chieti and Piceno. Buried in Bucchignano, Italy.

Feast of St. Nicholas of Flue, Swiss farmer, captain, councilor, judge, member of the assembly, mystic, hermit and father of ten children.  Patron of Switzerland and Pontifical Swiss Guards.

Feast of St. William of Penacorada, Benedictine founder, from the monastery of Sathgun, Leon, Spain.  Fled that monastery under attack by Saracens. Founded the monastery of Santa Maria de los Valles, later renamed San Guillermo de Penacorda.
