Feast of St. Mechtildis (Mechtilde) of Hackeborn, the Nightingale of Helfta, Saxon Benedictine nun and mystic. One of the authors of the Book of Special Graces, promoting the devotion to the superabundant divine mercy of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Patron against blindness.

Feast of St. Odo of Cluny, Benedictine Abbot, canon of the Church of St. Martin in Tours, studied philosophy under Remigius of Auxerre.  Second abbot of Cluny. He enacted various reforms in the Cluniac system of France and Italy. Patron for rain.

Feast of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, Princess, Franciscan Tertiary. Patron of hospitals, nurses, brides, widows and the Third Order of St. Francis.

Feast of St. Hugh of Lincoln, Carthusian monk of the Grande Chartreuse, Bishop of Lincoln. Patron of sick children, sick people, shoemakers and swans.

Feast of St. Albert the Great, 13th-century German Dominican bishop and Doctor of the Church. Scientist, philosopher, astrologer, theologian, spiritual writer, ecumenist and diplomat. Patron of scientists, medical technicians, natural sciences, philosophers and students.

Feast of St. Lawrence O’Toole (Lorcán Ua Tuathail), Augustinian Abbot of Glendalough, archbishop of Dublin, at the time of the Norman invasion of Ireland. Patron of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin. Died 1180.

Feast of St. Martin of Tours, Bishop and founder, Abbey of Marmoutier, France.  Patron of Soldiers, the poor, vintners, tailors, France, geese, horses and conscientious objectors.

Feast of St. Andrew Avellino, Theatine Priest and Theologian, friend of St. Charles Borromeo. Patron of Naples and Sicily, invoked against sudden death.

Feast of St. Theodore of Amasea (Theodore Tyro), Roman warrior saint and Great Martyr. Venerated in the Eastern Church as one of the three “Soldier Saints,” with George and Demetrios.  Patron of soldiers, Brindisi, recovery of lost articles and against storms.
