Feast of St. Erasmus of Formia, (St. Elmo), martyr. One of the 14 Holy Helpers. Patron of sailors & abdominal pain. St. Elmo’s fire, a weather phenomenon where luminous plasma is created by a corona discharge in the atmosphere, is named after him. It is a good omen for sailors.
