Feast of St. Matilda, wife, King Henry I of Germany (Henry the Fowler). Mother of three sons, Otho, Emperor, Henry, Duke of Bavaria, and St. Bruno, Archbishop of Cologne. She is buried in St. Servatius Church, Quedlinburg Abbey.  Patron parents of large families.

Feast of St. Ansovinus, Bishop and confessor, counselor to Louis the Pious, Holy Roman Emperor. Bishop of Camerino, Macerata, Marche, Italy. Patron of gardeners, invoked for good harvests. Died 840.

Feast of St. Paul Aurelian, Bishop & Founder, 1st bishop of Quimper & Léon, 1 of the 7 founder saints of Brittany. A pupil of Saint Illtud at Ynys Byr, established monasteries in Finistère, at Lampaul, Ushant Island, & Batz

Feast of St. Kessog, Martyr, Irish missionary active in the Lennox and southern Perthshire areas. Son of the king of Cashel in Ireland, he was a missionary bishop in Scotland. The Kessog oil field in the North Sea is named after the saint.  Patron of Lennox and Scotland.

Feast of St. Drausinus of Soissons, bishop and founder.  Built a monastery, 2 churches, and a convent at Soissons.  Medieval legend says that to spend the night at Drausinus’ tomb made one invincible. Patron of champions and to thwart enemy plots.

Feast of Sts. Kyneburga, Kyneswide and Tibba, Abbesses, relatives of King Penda of Mercia.  Kyneburga founded an abbey in Castor, in the Soke of Peterborough.  Kyneswide and Tibba became abbess in succession, after the death of Kyneburga.  Tibba is patron saint of falconers.

Feast of St. Piran, 5th-century Cornish abbot and hermit near Padstow in Cornwall. St. Piran’s Day is the national day of Cornwall. Patron of Tin miners and Cornwall although Saint Michael and Saint Petroc also have some claim to the title.

Feast of St. Katharine Drexel, American heiress, philanthropist, religious sister, educator, and founder – Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament. The 2nd canonized saint born in the United States and the 1st to have been born a U.S. citizen. Patron of racial justice and philanthropy.

Feast of St. Suitbert of Kaiserwerdt, missionary bishop, founder. Apostle of the Frisians with St. Willibrord. Converted pagan in North Brabant, Gelderland, and Cleves. Patron of Germany. Died 739.
