Feast of St. Melangell, Welsh virgin and abbess. Daughter of an Irish king, she became a hermit at Powys in central Wales. The prince of Powys, Brochwel Ysgithrog, granted her land to found a community of women. She served as abbess for 37 years. Patron of hares.
